This recipe works great for a quick and easy breakfast. It’s nutritious and filling. I make this “liquid breakfast” several mornings each week. The recipe is very adaptable, so use the fruit of your liking or whatever you have on hand.
Here is the blessing about this Very Berry Smoothie: make it in minutes and then sip on it while you’re reading Scripture, journaling, and spending time with God.
Remember, keep you Daniel Fast meals simple and easy. Fasting is NOT about food. Fasting is about spending focused time with God and His Word.
Very Berry Smoothie
Ingredients
- ½ cup frozen raspberries
- ½ cup frozen blueberries
- ½ cup hot water
- ½ cup unsweetened soy or almond milk
- ¼ cup pecans or walnuts
- ¼ cup pumpkin seeds
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
Instructions
- Place all ingredients in the mixing container in the order as listed above. The warm water keeps the frozen fruit from becoming a block to your blender. By the way, I use a Magic Bullet, which is easy to use and quick to clean.
- Blend until smooth. The smoothie is a little grainy because of the ground nuts and seeds. Serve in a glass with a spoon as the smoothie is thick.
I did the Daniel Fast 1/1/19 thru 1/21/19. Don’t know how much I lost. I threw the scale away last summer. Went from 16 to 14. Will be gaining it back if I don’t get out of the snack habit. I did not use your receipts but I used them as a pattern. I did not feel hunger but found myself wanting to snack. Stayed with fruit and nuts. Missed chocolate. Still not buying it. I’m also a big coffee drinker but actually didn’t miss it that much drinking the water. I just missed the warm cup in the morning. I tried the hot water which my Mom and Son adopted to but “yuck” no thanks. Not even with lemon. I am a daily Bible reader. That was no problem but I know I need to spend a lot more time face to face with my Father. Thank you for the Daniel Fast. Hopefully I will to this again next New Year. I am hopeful the water and good eating habits will stay with me.
