A perfect example of why sticking with God’s natural food is found in rice.

White rice and brown rice are both eaten regularly around the world, but does brown rice have any additional health benefits? In a word, yes! When compared to white rice, brown rice has many advantages. Here, we’ll break down the benefits of brown rice and present you with three tasty and simple recipes that incorporate this healthier alternative

Brown rice, unlike white rice, has all three of the grain’s components (bran, germ, and endosperm) for optimal nutrition. In contrast, white rice has only its starchy endosperm remaining after the bran and germ have been removed during processing. Much of the beneficial nutrients and fiber that naturally occur in brown rice are lost during this procedure.

Brown rice’s high fiber content is one of its most appealing qualities. Fiber, found in greater quantities in brown rice than white rice, is essential for normal bowel function and the prevention of constipation. The chance of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and even some cancers has been shown to decrease when a person consumes a diet high in fiber.

Brown rice has a lower glycemic index than white rice, which is another benefit of going for brown. The glycemic index quantifies the rate at which a particular food elevates blood sugar. Hunger, exhaustion, and irritation are all symptoms of blood sugar swings, which foods with a high glycemic index are known to cause. The glycemic index of brown rice is lower than that of white rice, therefore it is less likely to have these unfavorable effects on the body.

If it’s rice on the Daniel Fast, choose brown rice. It’s better for you and if you’re like me, white rice will rarely cross your lips. You’ll prefer brown rice for its goodness and flavor. I like eating brown rice with steamed or sauteed vegetables. And sometimes I’ll just have a bowl of rice with a splash of soy sauce.
