I started teaching Christians about the Daniel Fast in 2007. If you’ve read my book, The Daniel Fast: feed your soul, strengthen your spirit and renew your body, then you know that this all came about when I received a word from the Lord to “write about the Daniel Fast.” And my greatest desire is to support and guide men, women and teens so they can have a successful fasting experience.
Since that time I have taught hundreds of thousands of people about the fast in one degree or another. And my team and I have responded to tens of thousands of men and women when they have questions about the Daniel Fast.
One thing I know for sure: the Daniel Fast is a powerful spiritual experience that truly can bring amazing revelations, blessings, intimacy with the Lord and much more to those who engage in the fast. Prayers are answered. Lives are touched. Addictions are broken. Bodies are healed. Relationships are strengthened. And God is glorified!
But lately, and this has all accelerated over the last year are so, it seems like the true Daniel Fast is being hijacked and unknowing people suffer the consequences. Let me explain what I mean:
One of the most powerful lessons we can learn during the Daniel Fast is strengthening our faith muscles by putting our flesh in its proper place! What is that proper place? Submitted to the Spirit of God! The Bible teaches us this, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16. Also, we are called to this truth, “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” Romans 8:13.
During the Daniel Fast you will wrestle with the flesh. Your flesh will want certain foods that aren’t allowed on the fast. It will whine because it can’t have coffee, tea, soda or juice to drink. And every time you tell your flesh to “take the backseat, I am living according to the Spirit” we grow in our faith. Self-control is practiced. Walking according to the Spirit is experienced. Submission happens.
In our culture today almost everything around us encourages us to pander to the desires of the flesh. It’s an “if I want it, I buy it” mindset. Or an “if I want it, I eat it” way of living. Feed me. Make it delectable. Don’t make me wait. I want it now!
So what does this have to do with the Daniel Fast? And why do I wonder if it’s being hijacked?

Look at the cover of this book. “Mouthwatering recipes” for the Daniel Fast! Or the images of muffins, which are not allowed on the fast.
In today’s Internet world and the easy and quick access to information, it only takes a computer and a few keystrokes to “publish information.” And with the introduction of self-published digital books including Kindle and Nook, it’s easy for anyone to present their offerings to the world for their consumption.
What am I seeing? A multitude of books and publications being presented about the Daniel Fast that overflow with errors, nurture the flesh, and guide people away from the amazing experiences they can have. It’s like thousands of men and women are walking on a path wanting a powerful spiritual experience using the Daniel Fast. They come to a table piled with books with enticing words and pictures of food! The covers and descriptions include messages like these:
- Daniel Fast Smoothies: Scrumptious and Nutritious Blend of Flavors That Make Up a Mouth Watering Array of Smoothie Beverages
- The Daniel Fast Made Delicious
- Daniel Fast Desserts: a Tempting Assortment of Dessert Meals that Will Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
- Daniel Fast Desserts: Over 20 Sweet Treat Recipes for Your Daniel Fast
And here’s one that lifted part of the title of my book to promote their offering: Daniel Fast Cookbook: Feed Your Soul and Strengthen Your Spirit with Over 30 Delicious Recipes.

The photo on this book cover includes eggs, cheese, ham, jam, raised breads, milk, juice, coffee and other foods not allowed on the Daniel Fast! Just one example if the Daniel Fast being hijacked!
So you choose one of the “Daniel Fast books” that feeds your flesh in a “tantalizing” and “scrumptious way” and you keep moving down the path. But here’s the problem, you unknowingly have taken a detour. This detour takes you on a path to satisfy your flesh. “Wow! I don’t have to give up sweet foods. I can make these yummy cookies.” “Oh, look here. I can have all these delectable dishes! I don’t have to deny myself at all. This is great!” And you keep moving along.
Meanwhile, you miss out on the treasure that you could have had if you would have had a true guidebook and entered this spiritual experience as it was originally intended: a powerful, consecrated time of extended prayer and fasting so you can draw closer to God, develop your faith, and learn how to walk according to the Spirit rather than by the desires of the flesh.
I understand that the Daniel Fast, being a partial fast, presents some challenges about food. Is it okay to enjoy the foods you eat while on the fast? What about preparing meals for others?
And here is where you, as a follower of Jesus Christ and as a temple of the Holy Spirit, can exercise your discernment. Are you feeding your body? Or are you indulging your flesh? Are you staying within the boundaries of a spiritual experience? Or are you figuring out ways you can stay within the food guidelines but still meet the needs of the flesh by concocting “tantalizing” recipes?
There are times when there’s a fine line when it comes to eating some foods or making up some recipes while on the fast. But I also know that we have a Guide inside of us who will show us the direction that will best meet our desire for spiritual growth.
We have a choice when we enter into an extended period of prayer and fasting using the Daniel Fast. We can “seek first the kingdom of God” and consecrate ourselves for the time and gain in maturity and understanding. Or, we can continue to pander to the flesh and have a mediocre experience with some benefits . . . but still missing out on the supernatural blessings the Lord wants to deliver.
Paul says this, “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal.” 1 Corinthians 3:1-3
And here is even a stronger message from Paul: “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.” Romans 8:5-7
Like I mentioned, I have been teaching about the Daniel Fast for many years. The Lord has blessed me with the assignment. And I am humbled when I hear from men, women and teens that have been powerfully touched by the experiences they’ve had while in the Daniel Fast. I know the potential of this fast! I have heard and read the testimonies of thousands! And that’s why I am saddened to see what is happening.
My hope is that people on the path toward their fasting experience will allow the Lord, and not their flesh, to direct their steps. And that they will indeed be able to receive the amazing and powerful gifts, blessings, revelations, and answers to prayer that are available to them.
Okay . . . end of rant! But I do ask you that, as someone who has taken the time read this article, help me and others keep the Daniel Fast the powerful spiritual experience it can be. Let’s work together to keep the main thing the main thing . . . and that is submitting ourselves to God as we enter into a time of extended prayer and fasting and open our hearts to Him so we can be transformed into the people He calls us to be! The Daniel Fast is not about the food! It’s about entering into a spiritual experience that brings us closer to God and allows Him to shower us with the blessings and gifts He so wants us to have. Please, help me to preserve the true purpose of this method of fasting!

Good day Susan
Is it allowed to eat maize meal during daniel fasting?
Kind regards
Yes. It’s all whole grain (or whole corn).
Be blessed on your fast.
Thank you Susan for Biblical instructions and guidelines as we go on the Daniel Fast. I have some of the books you mentioned. One of the things that kind of bothered me about theirs is that they strongly recommend that you do it in a group. While I see nothing wrong with it, you don’t always find others wanting to deepen their experience with God at the same time that you are called to. It also concentrated on food and fun and did allow many things not allowed. That isn’t my purpose in a fast.
I appreciate you sticking with the true reasons for a fast. I started on the Daniel Fast with you, and I’m sure many others on 1-7-18. I look forward to a deeper relationship with God and answers to prayers.
Again, thank you Susan, for being true to the Word and God’s teaching.
Thank you so much, Janene.
God holds those who teach at a very high standard. He judges us severely, which is right. We put what we believe to be true into the minds and hearts of others. We can affect others and their beliefs. That’s why I always try to stay so close to Him and His Word.
I’m saddened by how so many are lead astray or into mediocrity because of erroneous teaching.
Let’s all work to be sure that what we’re learning is based on His Word. Then we’ll be sure.
Thanks for your message and be blessed on your fast.
Dear Susan
can I’m starting Daniel fast today…I know about all fruits and vegetables that we must eat…my question is : can I eat pap (maize mealie)or brown mabela with vegetables…?
All whole grains are allowed on the Daniel Fast, so those sound okay to me. However, I’m not real familiar with them. I’ve had pap when I’ve been in Africa. Not the brown mabela, so if it’s a whole grain then it would be okay.
Be blessed on your fast.
Feel exactly the same way, Susan. I first started reading about the Daniel Fast when I read your book. All of a sudden, everyone and their brother was writing a book about the Daniel fast that strayed far from the initial/original program. I bought a few of these other books and was highly disappointed in their versions. Thank-you for keeping it real….
Thank you for your message, Veronica.
I feel so sad when so many people are led astray and then miss out on the powerful blessings the Lord wants to give them as they draw nearer to Him through this spiritual discipline. Please, join me in prayer that more and more will see the truth!
Be blessed, dear one!
Very good remarks about this type of diet being hijacked! I bought Rick Warren’s Daniel Plan, and quickly realized it was basically an advertisement for his line of Daniel Plan “delicious” recipe books. Even worse, many of the ingredients he uses are exotic and expensive, and some take extra time to prepare. It is hard to imagine David and his companions had anything more than a simple combination of raw or boiled vegetables with their water, before prayerfully returning to their training.
thank you for this, Susan. It’s true that many people focus on the food instead of on God and spending this time with him. This is a very good reminder of why I’m doing the fast in. It is to get closer to God and to focus on him, not on food. I know it may be hard at times, but I want to get closer to God and let his spirit guide me. I will be starting the fast next week and I’m ready for some breakthroughs in my life.
I read an have the book the Daniel fast an look forward to getting the other books at the library. Yes my goal is to get closer wirh god an to get off all these meds from my diseases. One u have one u seems to get another as u age. The last 2 years I have ending up in hospital due to gerd an blocked bowel due to all the gas , bloating an burping. I started the fodmap which is helping an hope this can really redirect my strugglings with food. Thank you so much. Laurie
From where does “no deep fried foods” come?
The guidelines were developed decades about (I teach about them, I didn’t invent them) and deep fried foods are considered “precious.”
Here is a good “internal test”you can have to help guide you. Ask yourself, why do you want to deep fry the food item? What is the motive?
You can have sauteed food and foods fried in a small amount of oil. Also baked . . . so why deep fried?
Dear Sue, This is about the 40 Days Daniel Fast Lent starting today. And I believe God,s hand will lead us and my church for the first time. God has shown me great visions for my ministry ( Dynamic Agape Centre ) Let the manifestation in Him leading in Christ Jesus. He has shown me a great multiracial congregation where supernatural power of healing manifesting. There is a lot of testimonies in past. So my God wants to take me higher and higher for His glory. Pray for us in this journey of faith. I believe “The will be no more delay.” (Rev.10:6)” The vision is already fulfilled. (Ezekiel 12:22) Amen to this. Our 2017 is our financial breakthrough. Pray for us guys for God send a Moses. AMEN
Hi Susan. Thanks for the wonderful insight about the Daniel Fast. What I would like to know is that is there a specific period that that one has to do this fast and if yes, when? I started my fast today (11th) is that okay. I also like to find out if when you are on the fast are you allowed to be on any medication? I fell on my ankle and got swollen and need to see the doctor. Please advise.
This will help: https://youtu.be/Cx398-4XCfY
Yes, continue with medications.
Thank you for all the great information. You truly are a blessing. I found a recipe that calls for coconut amino teriyaki sauce. Is this okay to use?
Yes, it sounds okay. It all depends on the list of ingredients (not the nutritional analysis) on the food label. If the ingredients in any packaged or prepared food you consider are all plant-based and free of chemicals, sweeteners, and anything artificial, then you are good to go.
Be blessed.
Hi Susan,
I was wondering if we can eat Amy soups from the can while on the Daniel fast?
Many Blessing,
Katherine
Hi Katherine,
It add depends on the list of ingredients (not the nutritional analysis) on the food label. If the ingredients are all plant-based and free of chemicals, sweeteners, and anything artificial, then the canned soups will be fine.
When did the daniel fast started? Was it on the 8th of January? I opened my email just now and saw about it. Am i late if i started tom?
You’re good to start now. However, I do encourage to you prepare first, especially if you need to wean yourself off caffeine.
Be blessed!
Thank you Susan once again for the Daniel Fast. I first used your Daniel Fast in 2012 and was amazed at how it drew me closer to God.
I am preparing and cannot wait to start on 8th Jan 2017.
My sincere gratitude Sue, its that time of the year again where I know that our international beloved brethren we will be taking this spiritual uplifting journey of Daniel Fast. Our 2017 will never be the same in Christ Jesus. Amen. Be richly blessed.
Thanks for this word. I too, fell prey to other sites that believe their plan honors the original Daniel Fast by allowing ‘organic’ meats, dairy products and seafood. Certainly part of Daniel’s thoughts were on ‘clean eating.’ Most of Daniel’s thoughts were on getting closer to God. I find juice fasting in the fall helps me on my spiritual journey. I hope the New Year Daniel Fast, as laid out in your writings, helps me get closer to God and his plans for me.
Thanks for your guidance. I have always been so weary of fasting because I see so many people going about it in all wrong. I plan to begin the fast on the 8th. I have been using this week to get the diet specs and reading my foods.
I will be referering back and forth so that I can stay on track.
Can you also direct me to the scripture about husband and wife conducting them selves in a fast ? It sorta states that the should honor the fast and the marriage sepparately.
Hi Victoria,
Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Corinthians 7:2-5
My wife and I are looking forward to and will be joining the fast on 1/8/17.
I understand the spiritual aspects of the fast but I do not understand the allowance of processed foods i.e. Tofu. Isn’t Tofu a highly refined (chemically and mechanically) process soybean product?
Hi David,
You will want to get tofu that is created using no chemicals. Check out your local health food store if you choose to use tofu.
Be blessed.
Thanks for the helpful reminders given here. This is my first time with this fast and I was really amazed to see so much information about food. I have practiced 12 hr fasts with just water , crackers or oatmeal and it was no problem. But a friend told me about this fast and after reading Daniel’s book In the Bible and seeing his strong faith in God, and the wisdom, beauty and strength he gained through his fasts, I resolved to try it this year. This will be the first time that I would be fasting without leaven and sugar products though. So I am really excited to see God work in my life as I seek to strengthen my faith and trust in him through this experience. What would really give me joy is to see my husband come on board to. So far he has resisted. But with prayer all things are possible. Thanks again for your blog and support.
Susan ,
I pray all is well with you. I am teaching on Fasting and I have a problem with your interpretation of scriptures. Why do you call the choice Daniel made in Daniel, chapter 1 or chapter 10 a fast? Daniel doesn’t call it a fast, why do you? We know he fasted in chapter 9 (separate incident) but how have you concluded the same in the other chapters?
I know you have sold millions of copies of your books and (to your credit) have taught the body of Christ about health and fitness. I admire you for that and I really do appreciate your insight but calling something a FAST to make “biblical fasting” easier seems interesting.
Biblical fasting, according to scripture is the total abstaining of food and drinks (Matthew 4, Exodus 34, Jonah 3, etc). Please advise. If I am in error OR if I missed your theological insight to explain the “Daniel Fast” please enlighten me with your wisdom.
Hi Tony,
Thanks for your message and inquiry. Have you read my book, The Daniel Fast: feed your soul, strengthen your spirit, and renew your body? I think the questions you raised will be answered there.
Briefly, the Daniel Fast is a method of fasting, based on the fasting experiences of Daniel. Biblical fasting is “restricting food for a spiritual purpose,” which is what Daniel did, as did many other faithful people in the Bible. This method of fasting is “a partial fast” where some foods are restricted (like Daniel).
I didn’t create the Daniel Fast, I only teach about it. This method of fasting has been around for decades. There is much written about Daniel fasting by both Christian and Jewish scholars. Here is just one mention from Matthew Henry:
During the days of Daniel’s mourning he ate no pleasant bread; he could not live without meat, but he ate little, and very sparingly, and mortified himself in the quality as well as the quantity of what he ate, which may truly be reckoned fasting, and a token of humiliation and sorrow. He did not eat the pleasant bread he used to eat, but that which was course and unpalatable, which he would not be tempted to eat any more of than was just necessary to support nature. As ornaments, so delicacies, are very disagreeable to a day of humiliation. Daniel ate no flesh, drank no wine, nor anointed himself, for those three week’s time.
Hope this helps . . .
Be blessed.
Thank you Susan for the response. I really appreciate it! I see you quoted from a commentary and not scripture to prove your thesis. That is fair but I was hoping for a scripture or two. I saw no examples in scriptures. You also said, “many other faithful people in the bible” did a partial fast. Can you point me the scripture or the name of those persons. I will research it myself but i did not see it.
Also, I would define fasting as the “total abstinence of food and water for a period of time for a spiritual purpose” not the “restricting of food”. The definition you cited sounds like a diet.
Again, I really am not trying to be problematic and in fairness to you, I will make this my last post on your site. I just want to understand FASTING through the scriptures so as I teach it, I give God the glory.
Please hear my heart. I am not at all trying to be a challenge or a thorn. If there is someway to engage you offline, please advise. You have my email address and if you wish, you can just respond there so others do not read our discourse.
Thanks again Susan
Thank you Susan for all the clarification on the kind of foods to take during the Daniel fast and am so eager to start .
My local church usually carries out 12hour fasts for first 2 weeks of the month and I am ready part of that ongoing fast however I would like to start the daniel fast on 8th Jan as well with everyone. Is it ok to combine the two for the first week as I will be breaking my fast with only the recommended foods in the daniel fast.
Thank you
Hi Belinda,
It’s really up to you. The main thing is to focus on the Lord and your needs that you want to lift to Him.
Be blessed.
Thank you so much Susan for teaching us about the Daniel Fast and on how to have Faith and walk in spirit with God, I really thank you.
This will be my 2nd Daniel Fast, I started fasting in September 2016 for 21 Days, for my traditional wedding to be a success and God has been good to me everything went perfectly well. I am so excited and just can’t wait to start this fast because I know what God is capable of and all the revelations and blessings that one can receive during and after the fast. God is amazing Amen.
God is so good. Glad you’re here. Keep leaning into God.
I am truly looking forward to this. I actually started 1/1 about 90% to get my mind and body fully ready. For me, this about my personal relationship with God and the focus is not the food. So this past week has been a practice run for me and I basically am keeping it very simple. I do not like to cook so I have an easy breakfast (oatmeal or brown rice cakes with natural peanut butter and fruit), lunch is simply organic soup (store bought, but compliant) , original triscuits and dairy free cashew cheese, dinner will be on line order delivery. I have ordered from Vesstro (making sure what I ordered was compliant) and that way I do not have to think about getting home and cooking (being tired can be more of a struggle). It worked well for me this week, so now I have everything I need and I can praise God for the bountiful food without having to really think about spending time on it. This gives me what my true purpose of the fast is all about…..instead spending time with God. Being fully prepared food wise for the fast keeps me well prepared to not have to think about it. I know we can fail if we worry about, what can I, what I am going to eat. I have been reading your daily emails, have been reading through your daily devotions, I have my 3 versus pray fully picked out and in my journal. I have started my goal setting (God has already let me know 1 goal for my fast, the other I am still praying and listening for what Him to let me know. I have m prayer list ready and have spent this week also focusing on my quiet time with God. Thank you for your book, it is wonderful and has helped me prepare so that God and I can really spend wonderful, quality time together. I Praise God so much and know this will be a wonderful, miraculous time that will propel me into the future God has planned.
I’m looking forward to the Daniel Fast, I start January 8th,2017!!! I’m ready to receive the many blessings that the Lord has for me!!! So I will be doing only fruits ,vegetables, and plenty of water..
I encourage you to add whole grains. Be sure to follow the fast as I teach about it.
Be blessed on your fast.
Hi Susan,
I drink warm water with little cinnamon, coconut oil and organic Apple cider vinegar every morning. Is that OK?
Thanks for the wonderful support. I’m excited about starting the fast on Jan 8.
Cynthia
Hmmm. Not exactly water, right? If it’s not water then it’s not allowed on the Daniel Fast.
Shawana;
I’m like you. If I am going to just do fruits, vegetables and water sometimes with a slice of lemon or cucumber or maybe some added fruit. I don’t want to get caught up in all the recipes. Just want to focus on getting closers with God.
Hi, my name is Mary. I thank God for the call upon your life to publish this wealth of info concerning the Daniel Fast. This is my first time during the fast with you, I ‘m reading everything you have taken the time to send me, in preparation for my spiritual experience to be a successful one. I am excited, because I believe and expecting God to do great thing in my life. I have a question, I plan to prepare different kinds of vegetable soups, can I use irish potatoes and sweet potatoes?
Thanks, Mary! Glad you’re with us!
Yes, you can use any kind of potatoes on the fast. All vegetables are acceptable.
Be blessed.
I will be taking part in the Daniel Fast for the first time beginning on Jan. 8th. I have considerable experience with fasting for 24 hour periods and have done a 3 day and a 7 day juice fast.
I know the constant temptation to cater to the flesh and I feel the tension already as I cut back on coffee (my favourite beverage!!) I love how you explained it in this blog post about allowing the Spirit to have more room as we deny the flesh. Thank you for the many free resources I’ve been able to access through your website as I prepare for this fast.
Thank you, Mary Anne, for your message.
The Daniel Fast is a powerful experience and the “taming of the flesh” is one of the most powerful lessons we can learn. Plus, such great exercise as we deny the flesh and submit to the Spirit.
Be blessed!
Can you do it for 3 days at a time?
You can, but the Daniel Fast method of fasting is best for longer periods of time to be effective.
If you only can fast for three days, you may want to choose a different method of fasting, such as a water-only or a juice-only fast.
Be blessed.
Thank you Susan for this blog. As a first timer on this fast I really found your blog very helpful. May God continue to use you as a blessing to us.
Refiloe
Thank you, so much! I’m so glad you’re with us! Be blessed!
Thank you Susan for this blog. Being my first time I am finding this very helpful. May God continue to use you to be a blessing to us.

On thing I don’t understand: why is Honey not allowed as a sweetener? The bees harvest from plants, so why isn’t it allowed?
Because it’s a sweetener. 🙂
The Daniel Fast is all natural foods, however not all natural foods are allowed on the Daniel Fast. This is one of those cases. No sweeteners on the Daniel Fast, so no honey.
I hope this helps.
January 8 to when? I we allow to eat meat?
Teta,
I encourage you to join our fast by clicking on the link to your right. Most people will begin the fast on January 8 and complete it on January 28th.
Check out this video to learn the basics: How to Prepare for the Daniel Fast
I am Phentermine prescribed from my doctor to lose weight, should I put it to the side for the fast? And how about ibprofen Incase of a headache? I know those are all chemicals.
Hi Maribel,
Fasting should never bring harm to the body. It’s okay to take medication if necessary, including ibuprofen, if you don’t find success using other natural methods. I am not familiar with the medication you are taking for weight loss. Before stopping it, make sure to check in with your doctor as their may be some side effects.
Have you seen the book I wrote last year titled, The Daniel Fast for Weight Loss? It’s not a “diet book,” but rather a guide to help you honor your body not as your own, but as the temple of God’s Holy Spirit. It also teaches about developing a lifestyle of health by caring for your body in the way God intended when He created you. If you follow the principles in the book, you definitely will drop unwanted pounds, gain energy, and be on your way to a life well lived in health, faith, and joy.
Thank you. Very helpful information. I will definitely look into the book you mentioned. My purpose this year is to live a happy positive life and demonstrate that inside and out.. more than anything be an example for my children and others, being healthy, happy and living in Faith.
I remember doing the fast before. I thought about God everytime I craved certain foods. I plan on doing the fast. Is oatmeal and tofu allowed?
Yes, oatmeal and tofu are allowed on the fast. Make sure they are free of chemicals, sweeteners, and additives.
Be blessed.
Is it possible to have adequate protein on this diet if the participant is unable to eat seeds, soy/tofu, and flaxseed. Basically the diet would consist of beans, vegetables, fruit, rice, and nuts as the only possible ingredients. Would this be adequate?
Thank you for your help,
janet
Yes, there is a lot of protein in the foods you listed. Also add leafy green vegetables and you will be good to go!
Be blessed
Can you do this longer than 3 weeks? The last time I did i with the church and lost weight as well. Not only that, but that weight stayed off for a year now. I would like to not only do the fast for my spiritual well being, bug physical as well. What would you recommend?
If you want to continue on a spiritual journey that encompasses your health, then I encourage you to check out Choose Life Now. It came out of the Daniel Fast and has helps hundreds and hundreds of people. You can learn more here >> Choose Life Now Four-Part Video.
Fasting is purposely a shorter experience. It’s a time to focus more intensely on the Lord and bring to Him the issue for which we need help. We want to carry the lessons we’ve learned into our everyday life after we fast. So that’s why I created Choose Life Now!
Hi my name is Grace and I would love to have a copy of your Daniel fast book, I have tried looking for it in the Christian resource center here in the U.A.E but I cannot find.
I really want to know what are the correct foods I am supposed to have during this fast so that I don’t stumble and to have a deeper knowledge of the Lord’s word and work and a closer walk with Him in my everyday life.
Thanks for your good work in helping believers.
Hi Grace,
You can order the Daniel Fast book in Kindle version from Amazon and read it on your computer. That would be the best way to go.
You can also click on this link to receive our short report to get you started: https://faithdrivenlife.leadpages.co/df-success-kit-opt-in/
As my prayer group prepares to go on the Daniel Fast in the new year we are trying to properly prepare our food.
Can you use meat to season your vegetables as they cook and not eat the meat???
What seasoning can be used ????
No, animal products at all. The Daniel Fast is totally plant-based eating. Use herbs and spices to season your dishes.
I want to learn more about Daniel fast .
Carman, I encourage you to get a copy of the Daniel Fast book. It has all you need to learn about the fast, as well as a complete cookbook and daily devotional.
Here is the link to check it out: The Daniel Fast
Hi my is Francis and I want to learn more about fasting please I need your help.
Hi Francis,
You can learn about the fast on this site and on our other site at http://danielfast.wordpress.com. Plus, you can find everything you need to know about the Daniel Fast is my book.
Be blesses as you grow in the love and knowledge of Jesus!
It grieves me when people take something of God’s an try to turn a profit. I have been reading your book and a book I purchased several years ago by a Dr. Don Colbert. I have purchased 3 books from a well know author and minister and was disappointed when the fast did not follow the correct Daniel Fast and was mainly for a diet. I appreciate all your insight and I am making my plans to start the first Sunday in Feb. and I am praying for the bad habits that have taken control are broken.
Nanalee, I appreciate your words. I too have seen how so many people are trying to turn this powerful spiritual experience into a money-making strategy by creating quick, self-published books that don’t follow the fasting principles. Some of them are so far off that if it weren’t so tragic (because people are led astray by them) it would be funny.
I am thankful for the work God called me to do back in 2007 to teach and write about the Daniel Fast. He is so good and I am thankful that the book He led me to write is helping you. Be blessed, dear one!
thank you
this article has pulled me back on track. it has made me aware of the flesh trying to detour my resolve
thank you
Thank you for this blog…I was one of those confused about the meals and the drink part! On my third day I felt God directing me to get more info. I had picked up your book on the Daniel fast at a christian book store and started reading…I didnt finish but i now will! Thank you for the information..It is sad to miss the blessing as i fuss over the food!
